Daytime tour of the astrolab and the observatory
Located at the foot of Mont Mégantic, ASTROLab is an astronomy activity centre with a high-definition multimedia hall and an exhibit room.
The ASTROLab is open every day in the heart of summer. The Summit Observatory is included in the day tour in summer and autumn.
The ticket for a visit this summer includes:
– Measuring the Universe: guided tour of the exhibition From the Starry Sky to the Infinite Universe, where you will experience the evolution of our conception of space and discover the greatness of the Universe.
– Film Emergence: cosmic evolution (see trailer)
– Virtual Cosmos: Virtual reality experience available for 8+ years
– Animation dedicated to families
The day astronomy activity must be booked in advance and takes place at a specific time. Schedule 2h15 for the museum visit, and 1h to drive up for the Observatory visit.
Here are the time choices, which vary depending on the date:
11:00, 11:15, 12:15, 12:30, 1:30, 1:45, 2:45, and 3:00.
Spring period: May 20 to June 17, Saturdays
Summer period: 23 June to 20 August, daily
Summer end period: 23 August to 24 September: Wednesday to Sunday.
Fall period: September 30 to October 8: Saturdays and Sundays

Daytime tour of the ASTROLab - winter
Located at the foot of the mountain, ASTROLab is a center of activities in astronomy including a high-definition multimedia room and an exhibition room.
The ASTROLab will be open during winter on week days. The Observatory at the top is closed for the winter season.
The ticket for a visit this winter includes:
– Emergence : cosmic evolution – available in English upon resquest
– Visit of the Exhibit room (bilingual indications on the walls).

Daytime tour of the ASTROLab - summer
Located at the foot of the mountain, ASTROLab is a center of activities in astronomy including a high-definition multimedia room and an exhibition room.
The ASTROLab will be open every day. The Observatory at the top will be open. It will be possible to drive up with your vehicle to see the Observatory from the outside, and visit the inside with our guide. This part is included is the daily ticket in astronomy.
The ticket for a visit this summer includes:
- Mesurer l’Univers - in French : guided tour of the main exhibit. Visit of the Exhibit room (bilingual indications on the walls)
- La lumière - in French
- Les Phases de la Lune - in French
- Emergence : cosmic evolution - available in English, call to ask a special presentation at 4:30 pm 819-888-2941. Upon reservation ONLY.
- Family activity - in French : short presentation in the multimedia hall.
- Virtual Cosmos : travel with special virtual equipment on your eyes. 8 years and older.
The astronomy activity must be booked in advance and takes place at a specific time.

To visit the Observatory, you have to plan an early afternoon drive with your car, and a guide will open the door to see the Telescope. Included with the Daily Ticket in astronomy.
Daytime tour of the observatory
The Mont-Mégantic Observatory, located at the top of the mountain since 1978, is accessible every day of the summer as part of our daily guided tours.
IN FRENCH – You will be accompanied by an enthusiastic guide who will help you discover the best performing telescope (1.6 metres) in Canada and explain its operation as well as the work and research accomplished by the astronomers.
The guided tours are conducted in French.
Included with the daily visit of the ASTROLab. Plan some extra time to your visit. Tours available between 1:45 pm and 5:45 pm (varies according to the date)
